Dead Girl Decay : Jeepers! Jinkies!

0

Happy Autumn Equinox my Freaky Fanatics! I got a spooky fun treat for you today. Two new Pop Culture Icon Dead Girl Decay barrettes have hit my Etsy shop!

Inspired by my love of Daphne Blake (a past high school nickname of mine) and her ghoulfriend Velma Dinkley I give you “Jeepers!” and “Jinkies!” Fun and colorful wearable art with a touch of spooky cartoon fun!

The centers feature up-cycled plastic Daphne and Velma heads surrounded by a multitude of flower petals and feathers inspired by their iconic cartoon looks in Scooby Doo.

Perfect to wear for Halloween, Comicons or really anytime….these barrettes are limited edition (no one else will have one like you do) pre-made and ready to ship in my online Etsy shop. Love them but don’t wear barrettes? No problem! Many of my customers clip these to things making them unique additions to their home decor!

Like to shop in person and support a small local business at the same time? Then jump into your Mystery Machine and head on over to Closet Collectibles in Crete IL where these two barrettes will be available for purchase if they are not sold by the time I make my next art drop off!

Spitting Image: Deadtime Stories

4

When I was a “kiddie” my Aunt gifted me a small tv for my bedroom. Late at night when I was supposed to be sleeping, I would turn on Tales From The Crypt. My Grandma who I lived with at the time was very religious and anything horror was considered “of the devil” so I would make sure to turn the volume down low as I curled up in my bedding for “deadtime” story time with the Crypt Keeper.

My Mom had introduced me to horror and these moments of young-ghoul-rebellion were very freeing from the life I was forced to live after she had passed away. They gave me something to look forward to late at night. It was a time by myself away from the hell I was living during the day.

Tales From The Crypt TV Show

In 2009 when Frank and I got married I designed a Tales From the Crypt comic inspired wedding program that we passed out to all of our guests.

In 2018 we had the honor of meeting John Kassir at Days of the Dead and we shared stories with him and told him how much the show meant to us. He told us how he loves hearing these stories and how amazed he still is knowing how determined so many “kiddies” were to watch the show.

Needless to say as a part of that special late night Kiddie Crypt Club, it was only a matter of time that I would be checking this art piece off my art bucket list. I present to you “Deadside Stories” a split face portrait done in pencil and chalk pastels in tribute to John Kassir and the Crypt Keeper…..

I can’t wait to cross paths with John once again so I can gift him the original art piece.

For any Boils and Ghouls who are interested in purchasing prints or wearing this art piece on a shirt, you can find them listed in my Etsy and Amazon shops. Prints will also be made available to purchase in store at Closet Collectibles in Crete, IL as soon as I make my next art drop.

Want to see more of my portrait drawings? You can find them on the Spitting Image page of my portfolio website!

Freaky Fanatics: John’s Penny Furter Display

0

I was so thrilled to see this photo in my inbox. It comes from one of my customers John and it shows how he has displayed my “Penny Furter” print in his home! 🎈

John loved the piece so much he purchased a 2nd print so his wife has something unique for Tim Curry to sign at the upcoming Monsterpalooza convention! I always love when my artwork is used for these memorable experiences and can’t wait to hear more from John after they meet the legend himself.

Have a photo of how you display my art in your home? Contact me so it can be featured with John’s photo in the Freaky Fanatic slideshow of my official portfolio website!

Are you a Tim Curry fan? Looking for something unique for the next horror con? Be sure to get your own “Penny Furter” print or t-shirt in my Etsy shop! Prints are also available to purchase in person at Closet Collectibles in Crete IL!

Freaky Fanatics: Patrick, Juniper & Ruby

2

My cousin Patrick brought his girls, Juniper and Ruby to see my work in store at Closet Collectibles. He sent me this beautiful photo of them with my store display and it truly lifted my spirits! 👻

I would like to take a moment to give Patrick a little shoutout as well…. for always supporting my work, always taking the time to like and share my art posts and for all the wonderful messages of feedback he sends to me whenever I share a new creation. With so much of my soul going into what I create it truly means the world to me to have this type of support. It also is so wonderful to see that he instills these values into his daughters to not only support family, but artists and small businesses like Closet Collectibles as well.

See Juniper and Ruby in the Freaky Fanatic slide show of my official portfolio website.

Have a photo with my artwork? Contact me to be featured!
