Freaky Fanatics: Howie Mandel

0

So what started as me sharing my “Walk On The Wild Side” portrait with Howie Mandel turned into him featuring it on his Instagram account captioned “This fan art gets my golden buzzer”.

But if that is not exciting enough, I got contacted by Howie’s Manager/Producer Rich, who reached out to me to tell me how much Howie loved the art and helped me get the original sent out to him. Rich did not tell Howie it was coming and surprised him with it today! I received this picture that is now also posted on Howie’s Instagram account giving me a shoutout for gifting it to him

It feels great knowing the man who inspired my vision now has it in his hands (literally) and didn’t have to wait until our paths crossed to receive it (although I am still hopeful to meet him one day). I am so glad I took the risk to send it and trusted the divine that it would arrive safely. Feeling so many good vibes right now!

Creature Feature: #BeetleHouse

2

I was on Instagram stalking the hash tag #BeetleHouse to try and live vicariously through all the people lucky enough to be on the West Coast enjoying Beetle House LA. I won’t lie the photos made me uber jealous ha ha. But, by doing so, I discovered some (public) photos that you can see my “What Nightmares Are Made Of” original portrait on display. They make my creepy little heart skip a beat so I had to share them with all my Freaky Fanatics and followers.

Look at all the other amazing pieces around it. It really makes me so thrilled that Beetle House worked with artists to use their original fan art for the decor of their place vs just buying random commercialized posters for the walls. I really think Tim Burton himself would also admire them for doing this.

Read more about my collaboration with Beetle House in my previous posts and don’t forget if you are in LA to pay them a visit and get a photo with my piece on display! Everyone that submits a photo gets a unique coupon code to be used in my Etsy Shop and will be featured here on my Eulogy Blog as well as in the Freaky Fanatics slideshow on my website!

Creature Feature: Beetle House LA

Could not be more excited or honored. Boxed up my ORIGINAL “What Nightmares Are Made Of” charcoal and pencil drawing to be shipped off to the new Beetle House Bar/Restaurant opening in Los Angeles next month. Their first location opened in New York and was such a success they are opening up a 2nd location. My piece will be displayed on the walls with other Tim Burton inspired art.

I was skeptical to send off my original at first because it’s a very meaningful piece and I worked really hard on it. However the more I thought about it the more I realized it needed to be a part of this amazing project instead of tucked away in my portfolio for no one to appreciate. Yes I was dreaming of one day giving it to Tim Burton himself. But let’s be honest.. the chances of that happening (even though I am a dreamer) are not very likely. The whole point of the piece was to express how much Tim Burton has inspired me as a artist and a person. Which is the exact vision behind Beetle House. I feel it will be at home there and who knows maybe some how Tim himself might finally get to see it.

Speaking of seeing it… if you live in the area or travel there make sure to visit Beetle House and snap a photo of yourself with the piece on display! I would love to collect photos of people enjoying the piece in person there. They are currently already taking reservations online!  I myself hope to one day travel there so I can see it on display and also take in how incredible Beetle House is. My only fear is I may never want to leave 😉

Love this piece? Then check out the prints and shirts available in my Etsy shop! want to see more of my portrait work? Then check out the Spitting Image page of my portfolio site.
