I love return customers who ask me to make custom themed pieces of wearable art. I can’t name the client here due to gift giving for the holidays but he has given me permission to post it so I can share it with all of you.
The client contacted me asking me to make a barrette for a Star Wars fan who loves the character Greedo. My creative mind went from super excited, to brainstorming, to ordering supplies and then to creating. This was the end result…
The client and I were very happy with how it came out. Now he has a one of a kind gift to give during the holidays that you can’t find at any store. The person receiving the gift will have a unique piece of wearable art that no one else will have (because even if I am commissioned to make another one… no 2 will ever be exactly alike).
If you are looking to have a custom themed barrette made please contact me. You can see more examples of my Dead Girl Decay creations on my portfolio site. Feel free to also browse pre-made ready to ship items in my Etsy shop! Lots to choose from for gifting!
As you may recall (from my Days of The Dead Indy Recap) this Summer we finally got to me Felissa Rose who played Angela Baker in Sleepaway Camp. For those who are not familiar, it is an iconic 80’s Slasher Film and Angela herself is the reason it is so iconic. To learn more you have to watch it. Trust me no spoilers here. Go watch it.
Felissa is one of the sweetest scream queens we have had the honor of meeting at a con. If you are a fan of her and then meet her you love her that much more. Which is why she inspired my latest portrait. I call it “Happy Camper” and it’s a split face portrait of Felissa Rose/Angela Baker. Complete with Camp Arawak blue pastel background. Lucky for me I will see her next weekend and look forward to giving her the original.
For all you 80’s slasher film junkies….you can get this now as prints and t-shirts in both my Etsy and Amazon shops! To see more of portrait work visit the Spitting Image page of my portfolio site!
One of the best parts about being an avid convention goer is that they tend to burn a fire under my ass to complete back burner pieces on my art bucket list. My next piece is no exception. When I heard that Lisa Marie Smith was added as a guest for an upcoming con we will be attending, I knew it was time to finally finish the portrait I had been wanting to do of her.
Although Lisa was a world–renowned model, I first heard of her when she was married to Tim Burton and starring in his movies. I never stopped admiring her work even after their split. I have always found her to be beautiful but I also find her rather fascinating. I think it’s incredible the way she can bring life to a character with very little dialogue. A silent movie actress of our time. That is why I chose to call this split face portrait “Siren”….
Half of the portrait is of Lisa as the Lady Martian in Mars Attacks because its one of my all time favorite movies. The other half is a representation of herself and a little bit of Lady Crane in Sleepy Hollow.
Prints and t-shirts are available in both my Etsy and Amazon shops! You can also see more of my portrait work on the Spitting Image page of my website.
Stay Spooky! Ack! Ack!
I just wanted to let everyone know that I am now offering prints of my “Be Wise. Be Brave. Be True.” and “It’s Showtime Synergy” paintings in my Etsy shop! T-Shirts coming soon so stay tuned.
