Spitting Image: Ketchup

0

originalLast year when I was vending at the Hardcore Hearse Club’s Annual Hearse Show a customer purchased a print of my “Naturally Born Bad” portrait of Juliette Lewis as Mallory Knox. They asked me if I had anything Pulp Fiction based. At the time I did not have anything but I told them I was a big fan of the film and had something visually in my mind and on my art bucket list.

My vision was focused on one of my favorite actresses, Uma Thurman (who I have drawn in the past as Poison Ivy) and her character Mia Wallace (who I had even dressed up as for Halloween a few years back). I call this new Spitting Image, split face portrait … “Ketchup” and it focuses on the 2 looks we see of Mia when she has that adrenaline-filled date night with Vincent Vega.

Spitting Image: Limited Edition Portrait Stickers Set 1!

4

That’s right Freaky Fanatics, I teamed up with another printer and this one specializes in stickers. I had them send me some samples to see how my portraits would print out as stickers to make them available to those who have been requesting them. I was so impressed I placed an order for 60  3″ x 3″ (approx. size) stickers. There are only 10 of each made of the below art pieces available in my Amazon shop! Get them before they are gone! Once this Set 1 sells out I will introduce a 2nd set so you can collect them all!

Spitting Image: It’s Too Late For Me

Another one marked off my “art bucket list”! This is a portrait I have been wanting to do for a few years now. Repo the Genetic Opera is one of my all time favorite movies. Really how can you go wrong introducing me to a hard rock/heavy metal, horror musical where Paris Hilton’s face falls off!

bill-moseley-3All kidding aside, the movie is a breath taking. It is artistic and visually beautiful as it is entertaining. It is nothing like anything you have ever watched or heard. In a world full of remakes it is a breath of fresh air.

We first heard about the movie at a horror con where Bill Moseley was there and was telling people about how he had just finished filming it and really got us pumped for it. We never heard much more about it until I came across it when it was available on DVD. Something told me to buy the movie even though I had never seen it. I have been completely hooked ever since the day I brought it home. Thank you “something”!

Frank and I introduced many of our friends, family and even co-workers to the film. We have even gone to live shadow cast performances of the movie as it has often been compared to being a modern day Rocky Horror. I found the live shadow cast to be an absolute blast! I even saved my little zydrate (blue glow stick) as a momento! Anytime someone stops to compliment me on the Geneco patch on my coat or my Blind Mag shirt I can’t help but turn into my giddy, horror geek self knowing that someone else out there knows about this masterpiece.

The character Blind Mag played by Sarah Brightman drew me in from the moment I first saw her on my screen. Not only is she absolutely beautiful and musically talented but her story is intriguing and really pulls you in.

I admit I had never heard of Sarah Brightman prior to Repo but at the same time after watching the movie I could not imagine anyone else playing her. That is just how breathtaking her performance as Blind Mag really is.

My portrait is my adaptation of Bling Mag before she goes on stage for her “final” performance and I call it’ “It’s Too Late For Me”

Spitting Image: Bloody BINGO!

3

So here it is my birthday and I am trying to come up with a creative way to gift my Genesis 4:7 portrait to Henry Rollins tonight.

My brother Mike said “Don’t look for one at the store. Make something. Make it about the movie!”

My husband Frank said “What if you incorporate the BINGO part of the movie and portrait

Thanks to them, a few BINGO cards, some red paint, glue, Modge Podge, tape and a black gift bag I now have the perfect way to gift it to him!

I keep referring to it as the Bloody BINGO bag ha ha ha. For those that don’t know 2-13-61 is not only Rollins’ birthday but also a trademark of sorts for him as well.
