Creature Feature: I’m Your Jessica Now Morty

1

So when I saw a post that Hot Topic was teaming up with We Love Fine for a Rick and Morty T-Shirt Contest my brain went into over drive with ideas. Anyone that knows myself and my husband know how much we love Rick and Morty. My first thought was I probably can’t enter because I do all my art with my hands and not a computer program. This is the dead end I run into quite often (that and you can’t enter unless you have Facebook). However these people are killer and are actually accepting hand drawn art! That alone was enough to get me to enter.

That is when it hit me… Scary Terry! Then from there I went for a modern day technology spin on a very popular horror movie scene and the rest is history.

If you’re a hardcore Nightmare on Elm Street and Rick and Morty fan you will understand the concept and also why I decided to call my entry “I’m Your Jessica Now Morty!” I sketched it out in pencil, outlined it in ink and then colored it with Prisma Color Colored pencils and chalk pastels. It was then scanned into the computer to submit it. I personally would rock the hell out of it as a t-shirt.

Now this is where my Freaky Fanatics come in. I need your help (again…I know, but us artists have to get exposure somehow right?). So anyways here is what I need you to do. I need you to go to my assigned contest entry link and vote for my entry and then SHARE the crap out of it all over social media asking your connections to do the same.

Here is the direct link to use and share:

Feel free to re-blog this post as well. The more exposure it gets the better! They have judges for this contest but they are looking for the public to also rate the entries to get an idea on who would buy the artwork concept on a shirt. It will weigh heavily on who wins. So please take the time to rate my entry and it would look even better if you left some supportive comment love on the entry as well.

Creature Feature: Blick Wearable Art Contest

0

Blick  is running a Wearable Art Contest! Which as we know is right up my alley. The winner receives a nice art supply prize package that I can definitely use as well!

If you have a Facebook account please go here http://bit.ly/2xZwmjO and show my Hellraiser Cenobite Dead Girl Decay Barrette some entry love!

I chose this particular piece because it is still one of the funnest, wearable art commission pieces I have made to date. I am sure I will be one of the few whose entry comes from the dark side, but I hope to make Clive Barker and Doug Bradley proud! Plus, when haven’t my creations stood out from the norms 😉

HellRaiser

This is a commission piece I completed for a Hellraiser horror movie fan. The center symbolizes Doug Bradley as Pinhead. It was made from Fimo Clay and hand painted to give it depth. Small nails were used as “pins”. The flower petals were all artificial flowers in various shades of blues, black and greys that were alternated between pieces of of patent leather snakeskin fabric that I cut to look like petals as well. I took necklace chain to symbolize the torture chains used in the film and of course splattered it with red paint to give that blood effect that all horror fans love! The customer was beyond happy with the end result.

Spitting Image: Please Vote for my Portrait at Creative Allies!

Garbage is doing a 20 Years Queer Tour art contest. My portrait that I just completed was perfect for this contest however it did not fit the size requirements. Well I wasn’t about to not enter (especially after the killer show we experienced Saturday). So I did a cropped/edited version of the portrait just for the contest.

The deadline to enter was yesterday and my entry just posted today due to the site having technical difficulties. I am already way behind as far as getting my entry exposure for votes. Please, please, please go to this link and vote for my entry and then share this link all over your social media or anywhere on the internet that will help spread the word that I need more votes to give my piece a fighting chance. Don’t forget to email it to your contacts too!

A little comment love on my entry page won’t hurt either but is not mandatory.

Feel free to reblog this post as well!. The key is to vote and when sharing telling others to do the same! Anything will help!

Thank you my Freaky Fanatics! It’s people like you that take the minute out of your day to do something like this that support HUGE way! Love you all!

I leave you with some memorable photos from Saturday’s Garbage concert! A Sweetest Day indeed!
