Well everyone… I am happy to announce that I officially aced my final exam and completed my Desktop Publishing & Design career program. I am patting myself on the back. Normally I don’t do that all too often but with how crazy my year started off in hospitals living on ng tubes I feel it’s well deserved. I thought for sure I would not finish on time (my program was scheduled to be completed in August) after having so many surgery complications and spending so long in the hospital. Once I started to recover more I started pushing myself to finish. Being it is self paced studies you really have to motivate yourself to keep going. If you don’t no one else will. I finished with a grade of 93 that was the average of all of my 17 completed exams and projects which is equivalent on their grading scale to an A. What really makes me happy though is that all of my projects I aced with 100 A grades. Not too shabby. I was told I will be getting my official certificate in the mail in about 2 – 3 weeks as well as my transcript paperwork. I might not have a degree but this is something that really taught me alot not only about design in general but about self discipline and that no matter what life hands you to keep trucking along. Here I am already doing what I went to school for and enjoying it with no student loans or regret. Just more educated and happier.
Now it’s time to celebrate! 😉
Stay Spooky and Smart!
Just aced my final project with a perfect score! 100!! Now I have to do my final studies and take my final exam and I will be officially finished with my Desktop Publishing and Design program. My career diploma will soon be in my artsy little hands.
Also I already got new added duties at work that focus on email marketing! So glad to know they are impressed with what I am doing so far at my new marketing job and looking to use me in various creative ways. Really loving it so far!
Just submitted my next graded project for my Desktop Publishing and Design program. I am pretty happy with how I have done so far. I have gotten a 100 on every graded project I have done. My next project is my final graded project. Then I have some more studies to do and my final exam. After that I will have completed the program and will receive my career diploma 🙂
On top of it all I have been offered a new full time job opportunity as an entry level Marketing Coordinator and am already incorporating the skills I have learned from my courses as we use Indesign to edit our marketing flyers. I also got contacted recently to do some more design work by the South Suburban Food Co-op. It feels great knowing that I chose a education path that will mesh well with what I can do career wise. So many people go to school for something and then end up choosing a completely different career path. I may one day do the same but for now I am happy to be on the track I set out for myself.
I am still re-cooping from all the various surgeries and complications I have faced since January but 2013 is a year of whole new beginnings for me. I feel as though I am starting over but not on the bottom of the totem pole but as a fresh new start. I have been wanting to have surgery and get my digestive motility disorder taken care of for years, been wanting to advance my education in some creative/artistic way and I have been wanting to do a full time job that is more “me”. With all of this came a lot of tears, suffering, and set backs but it will all be worth it in the end. I look at my surgery scars and refer to them now as my battle wounds. They are my “Frankenstein” stitches that put me back together again to give me a new life. I just have to keep trucking along and remind myself that everything I have faced has only made me stronger . As my brother has told me “you can do it soldier” 🙂 ……..and he is right!
Stay Spooky and Motivated!
Well as recovery gets better over time I am also still trying to keep up with my Desktop Publishing studies. I just submitted my next graded project. I had to do a CD cover and label for a band. How perfect is it that I was able to use my husband’s band, Axe Man’s Bridge as my inspiration. I had to use the assignment guidelines, colors etc. but I think it came out pretty good because I gave it my own flare with some fun rocker more darker fonts. We will see once it gets graded. I just submitted it today. After this I have a few more courses and graded projects to complete and then I will be done with my program. I am hoping to be done by August as long as my health doesn’t hold me back any further. I just keep trucking along and keep pushing myself to move forward the best that I can.
Speaking of CD covers.. Happy Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor Day!
