Freaky Fanatics: Kelly Doty Rocks The Decay On Ink Master Angels Season 2 Episode 2

0

From my previous post, you are already aware of how excited I was to see Kelly Doty in a commercial last week, rocking the barrette I made her on a future episode of Ink Master Angels. Well, last night was Season 2, Episode 2 and she is seen wearing my barrette for a majority of the episode.

Kelly Doty Wearing Living Dead Girl Nicole's Skullerfly Barrette On Ink Master Angels

If you missed it you can see a few cell phone videos I took and posted to my Freaky Fanatic Playlist on YouTube. You can also see some of it on the official Ink Master Angels Youtube channel or see them all under Viral Videos on the Freaky Fanatics page of my portfolio website. If you log into the Ink Master Angel website they also have some videos on there as well.

And most importantly if you follow Kelly on social media please show her some love for being an artist who supports other artists. I am incredibly grateful that she wore my work on TV. Such a huge compliment. Please tell her know how kick ass you think she is for sharing Living Dead Girl Nicole’s creepy creations with the world!

Want your own Skelefly or Skullerfly barrette? Check out some of the others I have made on the Dead Girl Decay page of my portfolio website.  There are a few already pre-made ones in my Etsy and Amazon shops that are ready to ship! Villain Arts Chicago Tattoo Con 2017

6

Kelly Doty BarretteThis weekend Frank and I attended the Villain Arts Chicago Tattoo Convention. Not only was it a great networking event for artists but we were able to get some work done and I was able to meet the extremely talented Kelly Doty.

For those of you that don’t know her, Kelly Doty is an extremely talented tattoo artist who recently was a finalist on Ink Masters. As a tattoo enthusiast and “collector” I have watched Ink Masters since the very first episode. But it wasn’t until Kelly was on the show that I was so awed by someone’s work that I anticipated every week so I could root for her. I won’t even lie.. when she didn’t win I was bitter. I just really thought she deserved the title and find her work to be incredible. So when I found out she was going to be at the con I decided to make her one of my Dead Girl Skullerfly Decay Barrettes… completely inspired by her.

When I met her I told her I made her something and when I told her it was a barrette she said “Girl you are speaking my language” and dug into the gift bag. She loved it and ripped the rose out of her hair.. threw it to the side and said “stupid rose” and immediately put my barrette in it’s place ha ha. She was an absolute delight to talk to and when I told her I loved her work she pointed at her new barrette and said “I love your work”. When I said goodbye and thanked her for rocking my barrette right away she said “try to stop me from wearing it” ha ha ha. Here is the photo a friend at her booth took of us during our meeting..

And the day just got better because our tattoo artist, Dave Togtman (of Black Devil Tattoo) was working the event and reserved time for both Frank and I to get more work done.

Frank got the netherworld priest added to his wrist as a part of his Beetlejuice sleeve and I got my Neo Traditional style Captain Spaulding skull on my calf next to my Baby Firefly pinup. These pics were taken right after each piece was finished. He did an amazing job on both of them and we couldn’t be happier with them.

On top of it Dave also gave us this amazing art piece he had on display at the show. It will definitely be getting framed and hung up in our tomb sweet tomb!

Freaky Fanatics: Kayla’s Baby Shower

3

The past few weeks I have been a busy Aunt making gifts for my niece Kayla’s baby shower. She is doing her baby’s nursery in Disney’s The Aristocats with emphasis of the character Marie (because she is having a baby girl).

Today was her shower and I was very happy to see the smile on her face when she opened up her gifts.

With the help of my husband Frank we were able to make her a wooden wall hanging of Marie. I drew it on wood, my husband cut it out with a saw and sanded it. I then painted it and sprayed it with a protective gloss.

I also made her a set of my “Mummy and Me” matching Mother and Daughter Hair Barrettes. I picked the colors out based on what I thought Kayla would like and then when I saw the beautiful dress she was wearing for the shower I knew I did well. I couldn’t believe how much they matched what she actually wore to the shower.

And last but not least a photo of Great Aunt Nicole with the beautiful Mommy to be….
