Backbones: Limited Edition Sid Haig Memorial Necklaces

4

I am a little late for Giving Tuesday, but I have had something in the works for months now that I can finally announce. My soul sister Suzie is in need of some financial help so I came up with an idea to use my art to help raise some money for her much needed medical/living expenses and the memorial she has been wanting to do for her departed husband and my dear friend Sid Haig.

Suzie & Sid Haig with Living Dead Girl Nicole

After receiving Suzie’s blessing I am now able to offer Sid Haig Memorial Necklaces and I have decided to donate all proceeds from the sale of these necklaces to her.

These necklaces feature my Well Shit The Bed portrait that I drew and gifted to Sid for his birthday in 2017. The title of the art piece was inspired by an inside joke from the first time I met him back in 2004 and the portrait was a tribute to the beautiful friendship I was honored to have with him thereafter. The portrait represents him as himself on one side and as the horror villain icon Captain Spaulding on the other.

I had a limited run of the charms professionally printed and cut out of acrylic. They measure 2″ x 1.5″. I then added metal rings and put them on 20″ waxed faux leather cords (unisex) with lobster clasps and 2″ extender chain (for adjustable length). The backs of the charms are covered in a pure white that allows the portrait to pop through the layer of acrylic on top giving it dimension.

Each one comes in a purple organza bag making them perfect for gifting as well.

These wearable pieces of art are a unique way to support the legendary Sid Haig while also helping the love of his life in her time of need. They are now available with a limited quantity in my Etsy shop (I will continue to renew the listing until they sell out) and a handful will also be available to purchase in person at Closet Collectibles in Crete IL.

Don’t forget to check out my other art inspired fundraising efforts on the Backbones page of my official portfolio website and support some of the great causes and charities that are listed while you are there!

Back Bone: Furry Friends

0

My inner Deet gelfling essence has been in full swing lately! For those of you who are not Jim Henson geeks, stay tuned for a future post that will help make sense of what I just said and in the mean time just keep reading on…

Well, I am back at it again. I have donated another one of my handmade creations to a wonderful cause. This one being another online Instagram charity auction. This time I am re-joining forces with The Wishmasters Project to help raise money for Adelaide & Hills Koala Rescue who are doing wonderful things to help save the koalas from the bush fires in Australia.

The item I have donated is one of my limited edition Batty Skelerfly Barrettes with a starting bid of only $5.00!

Right now window shopping has begun on the Wishmasters Instagram page. This means that all the items that have been donated by artists and vendors are being posted to give people the chance to like and share them before the actual bidding opens THIS Friday, February 7th at 9pm EST..

Once the auction goes live you can then go to my item (and any of the other items) posted on their Instagram posts and bid (in $1 increments)! 100% of the proceeds from every item in this auction will be donated to the koala rescue. That is right. All of the artists and vendors who donated their items will not be making any profit from their items and creations so that we can raise the biggest amount possible for the cause.

So come join forces with us! Not only can you help by bidding on the items on Friday you can also help by bringing awareness to the auction. Go like the item posts, share the posts and even share this blog post with your connections and followers! Let’s save our furry little koala friends!

Now speaking of furry friends! A couple of weekends ago I got to enjoy a wonderful day date with my husband. We attended Wild Fest where we got to get up close and personal with some amazing animals rescued by various sanctuaries. I even got to pet quite a few of them. Here are a few photos from the event….

Since then I purchased an Incredible Bats shirt to help raise awareness for them. I am happy to know that the money I paid for the shirt will now go to some of those adorable new furry friends I made.

Back Bone: It’s Giving Tuesday Let’s Give Back!

0

As you all know I love using my artistic talents to give back to causes that I am passionate about. There is a whole page dedicated to this on my website called Back Bone. Why do I call it that? Well one I love all things spooky (of course) and like fun creative ways to name the pages of my website. Most importantly I enjoy having other people’s backs.

One of the ways I  give “back” is by offering special, limited edition items in my Etsy shop. Customers have purchased such items and the proceeds have gone to the charity they were made for.

  • If you are looking for a wonderful gift idea that you can give to someone and tell them it helped someone else, these items are perfect.
  • If you want to spoil yourself without the guilt because it helped someone else, these items are perfect.
  • If you just want to help a great cause in a fun way, these items are perfect.

Well with today being “Giving Tuesday” I wanted to remind my followers that I do still have a few items left in my shop that can be purchased and a portion of your purchase will go to a great cause. So let’s GIVE BACK!
