The chance to save my soul…
And my concern is now in vain.
Believe the word,
I will unlock my door…
And pass the cemetery… gates
My brother in law, Richie commissioned me to draw a picture of my niece, Kayla and their dog Stone that passed away this year. Kayla grew up with Stone. When she was a baby, Stone was a puppy and they were inseparable from the start. The portrait was to be a gift for Kayla for Christmas other wise I would have posted it sooner. I was given some photos to draw the portrait off of. I chose to take these two photos and combine them so you could see both Kayla and Stone’s faces. By doing so I was able to create a completely new picture which I thought was pretty neat.
Here are the 2 photos I used…
When Kayla saw me today she thanked me for drawing the picture and told me she really wanted a picture of her and Stone and that she really liked it. My brother in law actually took it to the store and had it blown up huge for her bedroom. If I get photos of that I will be sure to share them on here!!
I was waiting to post this when I got some more photos but since my family is slacking I decided to go ahead with it anyways Ha Ha! This past summer my brother commissioned me to draw a portrait for my sister in law Melissa for her birthday (which was in October). Her brother, Marc passed away a couple of years ago and she was very close to him. My brother wanted it to be a surprise for her so he gave me the photos at a family party when she wasn’t watching and from there I went to work. My brother had it framed and gave it to her on her birthday and she absolutely loved it. She proudly has it displayed in their home. Here is a photo of the portrait when I finished it.
The great thing about portraits is they make such a sentimental and unique gift for the people you love which makes them worth the money!! If you would like to see more of my portraits check them out here. And if you are interested in a portrait please feel free to contact me for a quote.
Today is “wear pink to show your support for breast cancer awareness” day. And as most of you know my Mom passed away from the disease and I recently made a barrette for myself to wear in her honor. So what better day then today to rock it!! I threw my hair up on top of my head and did a fun messy look and added the clip.. threw on a pink shirt and a owl necklace (my Mom adored them hence the owl in the barrette and the owl necklace) and headed to work!! Such a simple way to let others suffering from the disease or surviving from the disease know that I support them!! And a wonderful way to remind myself that my Mom is still with me and how proud I am to honor all that she is to me and always will be.
Please note these photos were taken in my kitchen with my iphone so they don’t do the barrette justice.. to see a really clear photo of the barrette go HERE!!!
For the Fight!
P.S. October 27th is support domestic violence awareness by wearing purple!! Please take the time to do this simple task to show the victims that we support them!!
