Remains: Mannequin Transformation Part 2

So yesterday on our way to work we passed up Nearly New Resale and noticed a dress hanging in the window among their other featured Halloween costume items. It caught my eye as something that might work for my current bride of Frankenstein mannequin project. If was a vintage, long sleeved wedding gown. I thought well if I go this route I can skip my original plan of using sheets and gauze and all that fun stuff and just put her in this dress (of course I would decay it and make it look creepy)! My other thought was if she was covered in an actual gown there would be less chance of paint chipping and costume malfunctions when transporting her around all over in the hearse.

So on the way home from work Frank and I decided to stop in and take a look at it. Our biggest debate when looking at it was “will it fit her” and “how much”. Well Frank was certain it would fit and I was pretty sure that if it didn’t I would figure some way to cut it up and do something with it. When they told us only $8 we couldn’t resist.

So we brought it home last night and I could not believe it actually fits the mannequin. It literally JUST fits her but it fits! You can’t see it in the picture but it also has a train on the back of it and it’s long. This will be great when she does not have her legs attached and is sitting on the seat in the hearse. No one will know the difference.

Too make it look more fitting to her decaying look my next step is to dirty up the dress and make it look worn and tattered. Once she is done I will be sure to post an update… so stay tuned!

Also be sure to check out Nearly New Resale! The shop is really nice and so are the people working there! We will definitely be back.

Stay Spooky!
